So it is that time again. Get excited it is Month in Review time. I know many of you have been checking my blog eagerly awaiting an update and you are pleasently suprised that the update is the best ever, the Month in Review. We are finishing up our time in Uganda. I just came back to Kampala yesterday from Gulu. We will be spending a few days as a squad in Kampala before we leave for Tanzinia next week. So here is a review of our month here in Uganda with a David Letterman style Top 10
10. Getting chased by the police with our driver Phillip. Phillip did not want us to pay a fine so he pulled off the road when a policeman tried to pull us over. Phillip is driving down this side road cutting through people’s yards and flying over speed bumps. It is the closest I’ve felt to being in a video game. Fortunately no consequences came of the chase except we had to fire Phillip.
9. Having an opportunity to work on a business plan for the contact Child Voice in Gulu. Accounting knowledge, thank you Auburn, put to good use.
8. Setting up a soccer game every Saturday afternoon with kids at the Bethel Primary school. The soccer field contained poop, chickens, holes and barbed wire but the game was fun.
The kids at the church in Africa. Definitely outnumber the adults, bodes well for the future I guess.
7. Watching tv with our landlord Siraj. Siraj has satellite tv and we were able to watch the American League Championship Series and English Premier League.
6. Finding out the news that I would be traveling to Gulu in Aly’s place to spend time with the other teams.
5. Seeing many people come to faith in Christ. Many muslims turned from their religion to Jesus. We would evangelize everyday and saw people come to faith in Christ everyday, the hope now is that they will grow and the African church will see disciples and not just converts.
New believer Kayanja in front of the church.
4. Getting an opportunity to make it through a 5 hour church service, PTL. Yes our services lasted from 9 am to 2 pm.
3. Rafting the Nile with our squad, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The beautiful Nile River.
2. Preaching a sermon to the church on discipleship. Having an opportunity to encourage the church to not only evangelize but focus on discipling also.
1. Seeing the leaders of the church, Alex and Tony, completely change their mindset from seeing ministry as a numbers game to truly seeing their responsibility to feed the lambs of God by becoming disciple makers. A new believer class and discipleship class is in the works of being started at the church. Pray the church will continue to grow much deeper.
Our team with 3 local believers, Alex, Tony and Sabrina.
Thank you for your support and prayers. God bless.
