Or is it the Koran? Yeah I’ve only read one chapter, the chapter about Mary’s life, but ever since sunday I plan on reading the holy book of Islam. You’re probably surprised; I’m a little surprised myself. Well on sunday we were in London. Yeah little weekend visit to London was awesome. Tom, Casey, Heather and I took a ferry and a train to London to see all the free stuff it had to offer. So yeah back to what’s important, on Sunday morning in London we went to Speaker’s Corner. This corner of a park in London is famous for people sharing their views on religion and politics. There was a man there named Subboor and he had a table set up saying “3 Men, 1 message” and had a picture of Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Naturally I approached him and began to speak with him about his views. The conversation was very healthy and deep. Subboor is very confident in what he believes. He says there is no way that God could ever come down and be born of a woman. He was quoting the Qur’an to me and unfortunately I was not able to quote any scripture that latched on to his heart.
After about 30 minutes of discussion on some of the hot topics we decided to agree to disagree and I thought things would end from there. However, Subbor offered up a deal. He said we should both pray for ourselves and each other that God will reveal the truth to us, and we should begin to e-mail each other to share what God is revealing to us. He also claimed since he knew more about the Bible than I knew about the Qur’an that I should start reading the Qur’an. I was happy to make the deal and look forward to sharing more about Christ with Subbor over the next year. I plan on e-mailing him later tonight. Please pray that God will speak to him and reveal Himself to me even more through this discussion.
One crazy side story is the fact that an Indian man with a Hindu background was listening to our discussion. As we were discussing things he began to ask Tom about Jesus. Like I hinted to before, I felt I was completely outmatched in my debate with Subboor and I figured anyone listening to our discussion would truly conclude that Islam holds more truth than Christianity. But somehow this man tuned every word about Islam out of his mind and focused in on Jesus. As we were walking away from Subboor’s table Tom and I began to share the gospel in depth with this man. He was very interested and had some of his closest friends recently come to faith in Christ. He said for the first time he saw that he was a sinner and needed a redeemer. We told him that he could have redemption today and gave him a tract. He was so excited to see scripture that was answering the longings in his heart. It was cool to see how God showed that Jesus truly is Lord, and is working despite our weaknesses.
So our time in Ireland/England has been very fruitful and full of evanagelism opportunities. Lovin life here. Please pray for Sabboor.
