1 Peter 2:4-10

As you come to him, the living Stone- rejected by humans chosen by God and precious to him- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be out to shame.”

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”

and,

“A stone that causes people to stumble
And a rock that makes them fall.”

They stumble because they disobey the message- which is also what they were designed for.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

At launch everyone was given a “giving key” with a word or bible verse on it. The leaders prayed over each person and they were told by God what the key should say. Once we figure out what the key means to us and we fully understand it then we are supposed to give the key to someone else. My key says Chosen. When I first got it I was like oh that’s cool, I’m chosen to be here for a reason. I didn’t think too much of it.

I was reading my Bible last night and I came across 1 Peter 2:4-10. I saw that it was titled “The Living Stone and a Chosen People” and it made me think of my key. I read through it a few times because it made me think about why God gave me this word. Verse 9 is when it truly hit me.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you of of darkness into his wonderful light.”

God chose me specifically to go spread His Word in these countries. I am chosen to be here to declare the praises of him. Before I left, a lot of people would ask me why I was doing the Race and my answer was, “To improve my faith.” That is true, but God has also called me out upon the waters to declare His name. To share about who He is and how much He loves us all. God chose me to do this mission for Him and to be His hands and feet in these countries for 9 months. Whenever I start to think about home or ask myself what I’m doing or why I’m here I look at my key and it reminds me that God has chosen me to be in this exact spot.

God has given each of a role on this Earth. We are all chosen by God and He has the best plans for us. It’s challenging at times but we have to remember that He has a plan and that He good good Father.

PRAYER REQUEST: My sweet sweet teammate Ky is very sick right now. She’s been on the other mission site and she hasn’t been with us because she is ill. If you could all please please pray for her health that would be super cool. We miss her a lot and we want her with us as soon as possible. Thanks so much!
