Y O U A R E N O T A L O N E
You’re not. Every single girl has thought or believed one of these things at some point in their life. I can probably circle more than half of these statements above and I bet the women reading this can as well. There are lies in a lot of these statements. Lies that we have believed probably our entire lives. Lies that have been spoken to us or shown to us in some way, shape, or form. Lies that have become our truth.
But I am here to tell you two things
One, you are not alone in believing these lies.
Two, you do not have to believe them anymore.
One day I asked as many girls as I could if they have ever not felt enough or felt like they were too much. All of them said yes. We all have been tricked by the enemy into believing these lies. They become our reality. They become an identity we operate out of. “Because I feel not enough I will do good in school to be enough”. “Because I feel too much I won’t say as much in a conversation so I won’t overwhelm people”.
“I will change who I really am as a person and as a women to be who I think I should be and who people think I should be”
Sweet girl you have been lied to. You have been told something to keep your true self in hiding, and it is about time she comes out. It is time that you stop believing the lies and you start believing truth.
“and you will know the truth and the truth will set you FREE”-John 8:32 ESV
You can’t just solely stop believing the lies. Jesus didn’t say stop believing lies, he said believe the truth. Truth counteracts lies. Lies only exist because they are based off of something that is true. Look to the truth, and that is where you will find freedom. Believe the truth.
Because there is enemy out there who wants to keep your true self locked up. Wants to keep who you truly are as a person and as a women hidden away.
“oh, get up, dear friend, my fair and beautiful lover-come to me! Come, my shy and modest dove-leave your seclusion, come out in the open. Let me see your face, let me hear your voice. For your voice is soothing and your face is ravishing.” -Song of Solomon 2:14 MSG
That’s Jesus talking to us. He is telling us to come out of our hiding place and to go running to him.
So you have a choice. Sit in the lies that you know are so familiar but not true. Listen and believe the lies about you and live out of them. Live a life unfulfilled and without love. OR, you can start to look to Jesus to tell you who you really are.
Treasure. Valuable. Worthy. Precious. Beautiful. Lovely. Powerful. Tender. Merciful. Gracious.
Loved.
And so much more.
I could scream those things at you until I am blue in the face, but my words do not suffice. Jesus’ words do. They are more than enough, and he is more than enough. Believe him over believing me because really, I’m just saying what he’s saying. But he is the giver of life, I would put my money on his words.
You are not alone. I am for you and more importantly Jesus is for you and with you. Listen to the giver of life. Let him breathe life into your lungs. Let him tell you who you actually are instead of letting the enemy and yourself tell you who you should be. Because who you are just enough for Jesus. Is being enough for him enough for you? You’re gonna have to find that out for yourself.
To the girls who just read this…. believe T R U T H
Much love for you all
