I recently dug up this bad boy that has been sitting idle on my computer for a while now. My last point was typed out on February 6 of this year. Halfway through my race. I wish I did not stop there, but found it funny how I stopped right around 50. When I re-read them I was blown away by the fact that most of these things I had not believed at the beginning of my race, but now believe with my whole heart. Wow God is good. I hope you guys take something from this and also get a good laugh out of a few. Happy reading.
1. I do not want to just love God, I want to be in love with him
2. I want to be the me that God created me to be, because that is the me I am meant to be
3. I am unworthy of the Lord, but that does not stop him from giving me what I don’t deserve
4. Don’t just seek God for what he offers, seek him for WHO he offers
5. Community isn’t just gonna come, you gotta fight for the people you love
6. Charades can get chaotic and crazy and asparagus is really hard to explain with just hand motions
7. God doesn’t push or force you to do anything, he invites you to do his will
8. Ice is precious and needs to be appreciated more
9. Boys can get really really stinky and gross (a fact known, but just reiterated)
10. God is super intentional and EVERYTHING he does has a purpose to it
11. Matt Collman aka Donny Cole makes the BEST pancakes and will probably run for president one day
12. People who have so little physical needs met have everything they need spiritually and I want to live that way
13. Everything you do is a choice
14. God is a promise maker and a promise keeper
15. God is a beautiful creator
16. Even though you may not speak the same language as someone that doesn’t mean you cannot have a relationship with that person
17. The desires that are in my heart are the ones God put there, and he has alot of those same desires
18. I am worth fighting for
19. By accepting the gifts God gives me (grace, mercy, love, etc.) that shows him that I love him
20. God can ask you to do some pretty hard things, but that is because he believes that he can get you through it; you just have to let him
21. It is ok to disagree with people, and it is ok to have a different opinion than someone else
22. Africa has some of the biggest ants I have ever seen in my life
23. Ministry isn’t just something you do during a mission trip you’re on; its a mindset and a lifestyle choice that you choose to have wherever you go
24. Fans, hot showers and washing machines are a blessing
25. Your feet will never not be covered in dirt
26. Sometimes you have to accept that you will never stop sweating even right after you take a shower
27. We don’t struggle to be free, we have the freedom to struggle
28. God is really really REALLY patient; especially with me, haha
29. I am definitely a fighter, but God is showing me the right things to fight for instead of fighting him
30. My sleeping bag is my best friend
31. Why am I hiding things from God that he already sees?
32. Wifi is super precious and also a luxury we get to have
33. My phone is not a necessity, but a privilege to have
34. God already knows the things in the dark, so why keep them there? Why not put them in the light and find freedom?
35. Hiennas are actually alot bigger in real life than I thought
36. My past and present mistakes don’t define me
37. Fighting for people is super hard, but God has never stopped fighting for me, so I can’t stop fighting for them
38. When I know whose I am, I know who I am
39. Vulnerability is POWERFUL
40. Community is essential and designed by God; I need to stop isolating myself and allow people to see what’s going on
41. You can go through the motions in ministry; you HAVE to be intentional and spirit filled to do it well and with purpose
42. Kids are CRAZY, but they’re a gift and a privilege
43. God still talks to me even when I’m choosing to not listen to him; would you want to keep talking to someone who kept ignoring you? I wouldn’t
44. I am NOT the same person I was last year
45. Life isn’t meant to be lived comfortably, its meant to be lived for the glory of the Lord which can sometimes make me very uncomfortable.
46. I have the freedom to be me, I just have to choose to be bold enough to show it
47. I am a broken person, but God still loves me anyways through my brokenness
48. If I knew everything I wouldn’t need God; so its OK for me not to understand or know everything
49. I think super duper deep about things, and that is God-given
