I see…
– Cabs and cars that look straight out of the 50’s.
– At least a 10 to 1 ratio of men to women out on the street.
– Dogs casually sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk.
– Giant cat sized rats.
– Men literally running barefoot as they pull rickshaws behind them.
– Shrines and Hindu temples at nearly every corner.

I hear….
– Dozens of crows outside my hostel window every morning.
– Horns honking and men ringing tiny bells as they pull rickshaws.
– The flute man playing songs, sometimes Jingle Bells, as he tries to sell flutes on the street.
– Taxi and rickshaw drivers politely greeting me with “Hello! Taxi?”.
– Beggars on the street asking for a hand-out.

I smell….
– Incense burning at nearly every shop or restaurant that I pass.
– A plethora of aromaic spices.
– The decomposition of fruits and vegetables thrown into heaps on the street.
– The preparation of delicious foods, luring me into restaurants.

I taste….
– Delicious vegetarian foods!!!!!!!!!
– Curry, roti, yogurt, bean curd……and more.
– Proteins that don’t come from meat!
– Nourishment from a balanced diet including fresh fruits and veggies AND the option of eating a meal with no starches!
– Real Diet Coke. Mmmmmm.

I feel….
– The lack of direction and apathy that sits on the people here.
– The dry, sun soaked heat.
– The cool water come from an actual shower!
– The the breeze cool me through the lightweight linen clothes I bought.
– The need for truth to reign in this place.

This, my friends is India and I love it.
