After a lovely breakfast complete with real coffee and a
beautiful view, my lover decided to give me some time to myself in our
boathouse. I love that he cares for me so well.

My afternoon consisted of a jog along the lakeshore and a
luxuriously long bath. By the time my lover returned to me I had spent a while
pampering myself, as any lady loves to do. It was evening at that point, and he invited me to a walk into town. I suspected we were going to buy
groceries and welcomed the opportunity to pick up a few things.
We strolled along the lakeshore path into town, chatting the
whole way. We passed many people along the path and I was pleased to have my
lover by my side. He made me feel safe.
As we walked into to town I noticed parents walking with
children carrying small lanterns. They were charming, and I couldn’t help but
wonder what the lanterns were for. “Perhaps a Swiss tradition of some sort,” I
thought.
We continued to the grocery store only to discover it was
closed. The lights in most of the businesses in the small town were off as
well, and the streets were cluttered with more families, lanterns in tow. My
lover and my curiosity drew me to a place on the street where others had
gathered as well. “What is going on,” I wondered out loud.
We stood there for ten minutes waiting, although for what I
did not know. I snapped a few pictures of children with lanterns as we waited.
Soon I heard music in the distance and my lover’s surprise was quickly
revealed. It was a parade!
Rows upon rows of figures holding flaming swords and
handmade lanterns, lit only by the light of fire filed down the narrow street.
A marching band followed the first batch of lantern-lit people. I smiled with
delight! I laughed as the marching band played. What a delightful surprise, yet
again from my lover! “This is for you,” he whispered as the processional passed
by. I continued to smile with such joy as the parade continued.
At the conclusion of the parade we began our walk home. My
heart was so happy. My lover never ceases to amaze me. He lured me to town,
knowing that the store would be closed, simply to bring me joy through lanterns
and marching bands. His love is so evident.
