If you happen to be following my colleagues’ blogs the following information may be old news. However, whether the first or fifth time receiving this information, it is certainly worth sharing time and time again.

While in Bucharest at Casa Shalom we had the joy of meeting one of the many kids that the ministry there is supporting to get proper medical care. Pavel was a teenage boy diagnosed with bone cancer. Prior to our arrival, Casa Shalom had already covered several medical bills including surgery and chemotherapy. His visit to the doctor this time was because his leg seemed to be getting worse. There was a large swollen area below his left knee and he could not walk on the leg.
Pavel and his mother stayed at Casa Shalom for a few nights before his next appointment. Each of those nights we came together to praise the Lord and to pray over Pavel. We rallied around, laying hands on him and standing in agreement worshipping the God we know is capable and willing to heal. For three nights we came before our God and for three nights Pavel left the room the same way he entered, on crutches, swollen leg dangling. How easily we lose heart when we can’t see what we’re looking for.
A few days later we heard from the doctor. The cancer was spreading and they would need to amputate the infected area to give him any chance of surviving. Pavel and his mother returned to Casa Shalom for a few nights before going to a specialist to get a second opinion. In those days we continued to meet each night in worship in prayer. It would have been easy to let discouragement creep in, but Pavel continued to sing and pray with passion and faith SO strong that it carried us through at times.
A few days before we left we heard Pavel’s status from the second doctor he visited. Fortunately he saw no need for amputation. He also saw no need for chemotherapy. He saw no need for these treatments because he saw NO CANCER!!!!!!! God had healed him!!!! Fortunately faith does not rely on that which we see in the natural!
Let this be a lesson to us. Whether you believe in him or not, know that God is bigger than we can understand. Maybe you think your self-sufficient and you can rely on the things around you to live a full life. But what about the things that you and no other human can control, like cancer? Maybe it’s time to put your faith into something bigger than you. I recommend God!
