“I want you to focus on the light, not the dark ness here in Pattaya.”
God spoke this to Nella, the director of the Tamar Center (where we’ve been doing a lot of our ministry with the women here) as she prepared for Pattaya Praise this year.  And that’s exactly what’s been taking place as tons of believers have been worshiping and praying together across this city the past 4 days!

Walking into the Night Trip Bar on Thursday night to worship during Pattaya Praise, I was immediately drawn to one of the women working there, Apple.  She had this tenderness about her that
spoke to people without words, yet behind her broken eyes she was
calling out for help.Throughout the night four of us felt led to pray for her.  As Amy spoke that night about Christ’s love and freedom (which she had no idea God was calling her to speak until about 5 min’s before) Apple and I stood listening hand in hand.

Shortly after was an  invitation for people to receive prayer or Jesus for the first time.  God blew me away as Apple longingly looked at her friend to join her as she stepped forward with me.  In the middle of a bar that night was a woman who earlier in her life called out to Jesus, but knew there was more.  As she desperately wanted more of Him we prayed not only for her, but the other 3 women working there who wanted Jesus too!

oh, but there’s more…

The next night, Friday, worship was held in a large school gynamisum.  Part of the way through Amy and Maithili decided to take a 7-Eleven run.  As they were heading back a woman in a pretty skanky black outfit yelled to them, “Where are you going?”  Inviting her to come with them, a woman who would’ve been selling herself earlier in the night found herself dancing in a school to a God who is pursuiing her, but she’s yet to know it.

nope it’s not over, there’s still more…

Last night, Saturday, we found ourselves awestruck of God’s character as we symbolically invited Jesus to reign as King of Kings over Pattaya.  We never would’ve thought we’d find ourselves worshiping in a 1,500 seat auditorium where transvestite cabaret shows take place, dancing, singing, twirling flags, blowing trumpets, and praising Jesus as a massive crown is escorted down the aisle.  Something in this moment spiritually changed.  Kingdom transformation took place in the heavenlies over Pattaya as “He inhabited the praises of His people.”  Later in the evening we ended at a huge indoor-outdoor shopping mall called The Big C.  Besides all the wandering eyes and curious minds as we praised throughout the night, God captured my heart with Lee.  She had just moved into the Tamar Center the night before.  On the very last night of Pattaya Praise I found myself dancing, hugging, and laughing with a woman who yesterday all she knew was a bar life filled with prostitution, and yet today Jesus offers a new name followed by a new identity.
I’m left awestruck by all the light God’s brought in just four short days here in this city…I’m even more amazed knowing this is just a small taste of heaven, knowing “there are greater things yet to come” and “greater things still to be done in this city” of Pattaya and it’s people!

Jesus is King over Pattaya!

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.  These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

Isaiah 42: 16
