My top 16 most memorable moments while in Palenque, Mexico

We are leaving Mexico in about 5 days & heading to Guatemala for our squad debrief. From there we’re off to Nicaragua for our next month’s ministry. Though I will miss the people of Palenque, I am excited for our next adventure!

1) Little kids falling asleep in my arms during church services

2) “Have I ever sweat this much & complained about it so much in my life? Can we say humidity, humidity, & more humidity?” My friend just walked by & said, “It’s even hot to breath!”

3) Kiatera building unexpected relationships of God’s doing, not ours (we love Juan!)

4) Our neighbor’s baby cows mooing for their mother’s morning, day, and night

5) Oh wait, did I also mention nicknaming their dogs the “Diablos” (devils)?

6) Kiatera’s testimony time over local Mexican food & one of our favorite coffee shops Café’ Yara…the beauty of community & food!
7) The joys of mosquito bites all over everyone’s bodies, or wait are they ant bites?

8) “Was that seriously just a pig’s head hanging in that butcher shop?”

9) Seeing some of God’s most beautiful creation at the Mayan Ruins & incredible waterfalls Agua Azul & Misol-Ha in tropical lusciousness

10) Thinking that by week 2 I’d be adjusted to typical church services being 2.5-3.0 hours long, nope J

11) Seeing how God has used our squad’s different spiritual gifts in reaching out to others

12) Confusing the neighbor’s by walking my chair down the road to Jesus & I’s “secret” place

13) Frustrations of language barriers during worship & yet the joy of knowing that all languages will worship together one day

14) Riding in the back of trucks & washing clothes by  hand

15) Learning more so that God has been here in Palenque before we ever showed up, that he’s used us to partner with him while here, & that he will continue to move in people’s lives even after we leave!

16) Love transcending words & languages..seeing Mario (a broken drug addicted gang member) come to Christ (see Katie Rowland’s blog for more of his story!)
