Life as a traveling missionary

Feelings:

Exhausted, sweaty, smelly, overheated!

Some things I have noticed…U know ur
a world racer if:

You know how to take a shower in less
than 3 minutes and ur lucky if the water is even workin, or I have
also experienced being soapy with shampoo in my hair n the water gets
shut off for hours or even until it rains again. And good luck if u
have to poo bc if the water is off u cant flush.

Walking 2 miles to get Internet service
is ridiculous yet u will do it 2-3 times a day..and it really sucks
when the place is closed bc its siesta time.

I have had kankles since I’ve been here
and its normal..so they say

Your Nalgene is ur best friend..and the
water in it is always room temp … but u don’t care if its

room temp…ps…the temp here is high
90s n heat index is higher

Eating on less than $4 a day ..that
includes break,lunch, n dinner

At night u toss n turn hoping a breeze
comes in the window..n u wake up in a pool of sweat…but good luck
standing in line for the shower bc its not gonna happen

Hola is ur most favorite word.

Getting hissed at on the street by all
the amigos happens way to often.

(So theres just a few things I have
experienced)

Heres a brief scenario of whats going
on:

So we get dropped off on a school bus
in Santo Domingo in a gated area that has like a few buildings. I
slept in a room with 5 other girls and it had a shower in it. The
shower n fan went off at random times…and were usually the times we
needed them most. We staid there with the whole group all 77 of us.
We had no refrigerator or a stove but the missionary staff that owned
the place cooked for us every night. AWESOME food..downfall lol they
cooked a lot and we had to eat EVERYTHING they made..which meant
seconds,thirds, even fourths.

Then Friday 7 teams took a 5 hour bus
trip to San Juan where I am staying till the end of the month..the
other half was sent to Haiti, At the end of the month we will be
switched out.

We are all staying at a house here
thats a AIM house and we actually have a missionary that lives here
and ministers to this place, his name is Miguel.

All 40something of us are living here
and its like the real world seriously…thats the best I can describe
it. We share chores an cooking..im cookin lunch tomorrow 🙂

We do have electric whenever it wants
to come on, and also have water and a refrigerator n stove. We go
here on Friday so we have a few days of relaxing, and getting to know
the area and neighbors. We get to meet our contacts Tuesday..then we
get to start our work…exciting!

Thanks everyone for ur prayers and
support and for ur faith in me!

Can someone please eat some Mexican
food for me..chips n salsa..queso…fajitas..the who nine yard..and
also drink a BIG RED…craving these things:)
