Every day on the world race is pretty spontaneous, but typically you have some form of schedule. Each morning, we ask our host what time he would like us to be ready for ministry. We visit churches and families around dinner time each night and have the day to invest in our other ministry, our team.

“Leave at 5”

Cool. We are in the clear to head upstairs for team time. We were about an hour in, when our host barges in. What in the world could he need?

“Wedding. Let’s go now.”

Pause.

Going to a wedding is every Racer’s dream, especially in India. Weddings are just full of life and culture and so much joy.

Our dream is coming true with absolutely no notice. The rickshaw is outside the house. We aren’t dressed and our hair is all messy buns and sweat. But, here we are. We load up and drive an hour to a different village.

When we arrived, we saw that they blocked off seats for us at the front. We watched as the bride and groom performed their traditional ceremony. I made eye contact with the bride and just whispered, “thank you.”

Her smile lit up the room. We prayed over them. I got to tell her how absolutely stunning she is as I sprinkled rice and glitter on her head. Our host family carted us around to nearby houses to eat and pray and laugh.

Soon enough, we loaded up the rickshaw and breathed out a collective sigh.

What a day. What a ministry we get to live out, just showing up for people and being a source of joy and prayer. What a couple, willing to let us enter into their day and play a special part of it. What a God, connecting people for the sake of the Kingdom.
