Month 2

Sunyani, Ghana

I have a teammate named Chelsy that sees the world through different lenses. Somehow she has the ability to see people and their needs on a supernatural level. Her relationship with Mercy was no exception.

We met Mercy on the streets of Sunyani in our first week of ministry. She runs a food stand on the very end of the road and sells the best fried plantains you’ll ever eat. We visited her every day that we could: buying plantains, sitting with her and her granddaughter, and encouraging anyone that would come chat and share a meal.

Chelsy had a special bond with Mercy. She spent all the time she could investing in her and seeking out a way to bless her. Another thing I love about Chelsy is her work ethic. She never leaves a project unfinished. She asked Mercy what her dream was and she probably wouldn’t have left Ghana until it was given to Mercy.

Mercy wanted to open a restaurant.

She envisioned added a concrete foundation, fixing up her stand, adding some tables and chairs, and building a cover for shade. Chelsy asked for help from her supporters that day. Almost overnight, $400 appeared in her go fund me. In Ghana Cedi that was well over 1,400, while Mercy makes less than 1 on her meals.

We went to work. We presented Mercy with the money and helped her search out supplies for the project. When all the supplies were purchased, we got to business. In just two short days, Mercy had her dream: a complete restaurant on her corner.

Truly, God did a work through Chelsy. Because of her attention to detail and the needs around her, Mercy felt a fraction of His love and care for her. She got to experience His provision in abundance. She got to find a community through the church we partnered with.

Mercy’s grand daughter, Christabel. She was an absolute joy.

She loves school and wants to become a doctor one day to

help people.

The progress of Mercy’s Corner. We worked alongside her to build

the foundation and the structure. The new stand was to be

delivered that week.

I got to leave a piece of me behind and create a small sign for Mercy.

Thank God we got to meet her and be involved in making her dream come true!
