Introducing my second team: Valor. Valor is a word that holds strength and meaning. It requires courage beyond our human capabilities, courage that can only come from the Lord. It’s a fighting word, typically used in terms of war. The Bible often refers to “men of valor” preparing for battle. We, as women, are preparing too. We are prepared to fight against lies and spiritual warfare. We are prepared to fight for one another in prayer. We go out into ministry wearing the full armor of God. We are women of Valor.
DANIELLE
Age: 27
Enneagram: 8w7
State: Maryland
Food Missed the Most: La Croix and Starbucks
Favorite Valor Memory: brunch and karaoke with a random Burmese grandma.
Danielle was on my first team, so I have been living with her for seven months now. We have grown a lot together. She is the biggest adventurer I know. She fights for what is right and doesn’t back down. She is our treasurer and I think I might start calling her sugar mama. She loves to spend her free time playing with local kids, playing Dutch Blitz, or watching The Kissing Booth on Netflix.
RAINA
Age: 30
Enneagram: 1
State: South Carolina
Food Missed the Most: A QUALITY Milkshake
Favorite Valor Memory: Rooftop Dance Party
Raina is a little energizer bunny. She has so much energy to give to people and I adore it. As one of the most intelligent people I know, she is also one of the most humble. She teaches English like she has been in the classroom for years, preaches like she’s at Passion Conference, and loves like each person she meets is Jesus. In her free time, she is scoping out stores to buy more toilet paper or sparking up conversations with locals.
KELLY
Age: 30
State: California
Enneagram: 9
Food Missed the Most: Ramen… even though we have it regularly?
Favorite Valor Memory: demolishing Danielle in rummy
Kelly is the most hilarious human. Her sass makes me feel at home. She hates physical touch and is totally fine just being quiet in your company. Basically, we are two peas. She loves to notice people and celebrate them. She deserves to be celebrated. Kel is also one of our logistics coordinators for our squad. She works DILIGENTLY to serve our squad behind the scenes. She gets us from point A to point B safely. For that, and many other reasons, I’m very thankful for that girl.
CHRISTA
Age: 25
State: Minnesota
Enneagram: 2
Food Missed the Most: Greek yogurt and whole milk and peas
Favorite Valor Memory: performing a remix of greatest showman to the ASQLs
My enneagram soulmate. We were destined to be great friends. Christa brings me down to earth and reminds me to loosen up a little. She lights up at night and shows off her crazy side. She is genuinely the kindest human that has existed since Jesus, helping literally anyone and everyone with anything. Her best friend is 65. She has a love for grandmas that surpasses understanding. I love how she invites people in on her adventures. She genuinely wants to cultivate a good story with her people.
MARGARET
Age: 25
State: Arkansas
Enneagram: 7
Food Missed the Most: Shipley’s Donuts and David’s Burgers
Favorite Valor Memory: dance party on the roof in the middle of the Himalayas
Marge has been my girl for a while now. Before the race started, she was my go to call for a good “what the heck are we doing!?” freak out. Now, I have been BLESSED to be on a team with her. God gave me the gift of deep talks, hard truth, all the laughs, and all the Hamilton dance parties wrapped into the southern belle that is Margaret. She spends her time talking about the enneagram and playing Clue on her phone. She is the first girl on the dance floor and the first girl to pull you in with her. You should find a friend like Marge.
HEATHER
Age: 27
State: New Hampshire
Enneagram: 4
Food Missed the Most: Steak
Favorite Valor Memory: exploring the abandoned amusement park.
Heather is super special to me. She is a huge reason that I am here today in Month 7. Back at Training Camp she literally pulled me to the finish line of our hike. She came back for this random girl she had known for two days. If that doesn’t speak into her character… She sees the underdog. She fights for people. I have seen more patience in her pinky finger than I have in my whole body. She leads a killer worship set and then creates beautiful pictures with her oil pastels. She listens to country music and screamo. She is one of a kind and, for the foreseeable future, she’s all mine y’all. I can’t wait to share my Heather adventures with you.
