We’re on the top floor of a hotel in Vietnam and I look around to see my squad, in song, telling God how good He is. I’m reminded that most of you haven’t seen them in a long time; those airport goodbyes feel like forever ago. These were the words that rung in my soul during squad worship tonight.
I look around this room and see strength, purpose and vision. For nine months now, I’ve worshipped with them. I’ve cried with them and laughed until I thought I was going to lose my stomach because I was laughing so hard. We’ve walked through what life was supposed to be like following the moments when everything around us shook. We’ve walked through moments, villages and cities that we don’t actually understand, even now. I’ve seen them grow. I’ve watched people find freedom, peace, healing and forgiveness. I’ve watched them embrace orphans, pray over the sick, ask for healing, and preach in front of crowds, when that’s the last place they wanted to find themselves. I’ve watched them give their last oreo with peanut butter because community means that we share just about everything. I’ve watched them give everything they have when they are tired, dependent on His strength to carry them through. I’ve seen their boldness; I’ve seen their fight.
Let me tell you something: it is beautiful.
I’ve seen the people they are becoming because they were released into the purpose God has for them. I’ve watched their hearts break into pieces, and had the chance to watch God mold them more into His image. I’ve watched change come when it is hard, and I’ve watched them embrace what it means to love Jesus more fully. It is easily the most beautiful process that I have ever seen in my life.
And to think that this is only the beginning, only the start of what God has for them.
America, P-Squad has only TWO more months until we’re home. That means you have two months to get ready for 50 people who’ve found over their purpose and their freedom. They change places when they show up, and America will be no different. They know how to ask God for big things; and they aren’t afraid to do so.
America, P-Squad is praying for you. Get ready. We’re coming home.
