I wish my life had billboards sometimes, because I fully believe that this week’s would have said just three words: Welcome to India!

We have been in India just a week now, although it feels like part of my heart was always here. This country is beautiful, the colors are incredible, and God is moving in a country that is known for its persecution of Christians. It is an incredible privilege just to be a part of the story that God is writing in this country, to meet these people, and to get to share in God’s story here.

We wake up each morning to a smell I know now as India: Curry. The mornings are beautiful, and the city where we are living is a small city, so we don’t hear the traffic in the mornings. We spend our mornings eating traditional Indian breakfasts; think onions, curry and other savory flavors. The food is incredible, and there seems to be SO much to eat, all the time.

We leave in the morning for our morning ministry: teaching conversational English to young college students from the villages here. They learn quick, and love to just chat. I find myself enjoying the time that we have to just talk to them, to learn about them, and to laugh. Today, one of the boys asked us for our autograph. In their eyes, we are celebrities. I don’t mind one bit that they think that though, because it opens the door to share Jesus with men who haven’t before. That’s such a driving force.

After English, we come back home for lunch, which is made by an incredible Indian woman named Roja. She makes traditional Indian food, which I have come to enjoy, most of the time. I love getting to share time with her, to get to know her, and to hear what God is doing in her life here. She is just 19, but already doing incredible things for God.

In the afternoon, we spend them teaching VBS classes. It has already been such an enjoyment to spend time with the kids, and share the message of Jesus with them. It caps of what is always an incredible day.

We come home to dinner, and spend the rest of our evening chatting, probably drinking another cup of Chai Tea, and hanging with our team. I have enjoyed this time here in India so much already, and I am looking forward to the relationships that will be stronger by the time we leave India.

I wish I could personally share this country with all of you, but I hope that pictures and blogs somewhat do it justice for its beauty. Continue to pray for this country, those who live here who are being persecuted for the sake of Christ, and for the Christians of this country to be vocal and share Jesus with their friends.

Until He Comes,

Kristy
