HALFWAY. We’re 152 days into the world race. And considering we come home in December, the feeling of knowing that we have finally crested a mountain and begin the second half of the journey is one that has a lot of emotions.
7 countries.
Countless people.
Lots of new food.
Even more coffee.
Sleeping just about anywhere.
Choosing community.
Choosing the challenge instead of what is easy.
Earthquakes.
Hospitals.
Medical Advice.
Prayer that moves mountains.
Aftershocks.
People going home.
Encouragement emails.
Laughing until you cry.
Crying until you laugh.
I think this list could go on and on. It feels impossible to sum up five and a half months of my life in a single list.
The first five and half months of the race was riddled with struggle, pain, long days, long travel days that was eclipsed by the glory of God, the moments where we saw His fingerprints every day.
The glory that I’ve seen in the first half the race is nothing compared to what I am expecting God to do in the second half. We are only halfway through; He has such good things for us as we aim to walk out more of what He has for us in the coming days. I’ve learned lessons in the first half will be lessons that I will have going through the rest of my life. I have seen things that have shaped my days; I have met people who I will know forever because earth is temporary, and our souls are eternal.
I walk away from the first half of the race telling you that this experience changed me. These moments will be moments I go back to a lot in the coming years. This experience has changed how I see the world, how I spend my money, and how I spend my time. These moments have taught me that what’s matters more about our lives is how we give them away rather than how much we can earn.
These moments, in short, define me. These moments define me because they define our Father. The more of His world I get to see, the more of His heart I have the chance to see. And that, friends, is a beautiful gift that I consider the greatest honor of my life.
I can’t wait to see what God has for me in the coming days.
THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
Until He Comes,
Kristy
