I feel you: you’re tired, on your way to burn out, and really reconsidering that the race might not be for you anymore. You’re tired of hearing your name, are starting to dread feedback and team time, ministry, and your pack smells. And let’s not talk about what you actually smell like.
God called you there. Whatever country your shoes are calling home. The place that you lay your head at night is the very place that God knew you would be.
Your team needs you. Your squad needs you. There is purpose for you. They need your joy, passion, life, intimacy and friendship.
Home isn’t the glamorous life you imagine it to be. Work and school still happen, and families are still fighting. Holidays are hard. It is still hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Remember the passion you had at training camp, launch, and in month one. Remember how you pursued Him so passionately in those seasons of your life. Remember that intimacy is a two-way street. Sit. Be still. Find that alone time. Get up early. Stay up late. Pursue Him. Don’t give up early. Stay there until He moves inside of you.
One word: Community. Find your teammates and tell them that you are struggling. Call a team meeting and tell them how you feel. Let them pray for you. Cry. Weep. Forgive. Tell your support team that you want them to pray for renewal. Let they very people that God put in your path be the people that point you back to Him.
Share nutella. Laugh. Make memories. Spend your morning off with people who refresh you. Email your squad mentor. Talk to your squad leaders.
Forget the Internet. Turn off your phone. Pursue Jesus and the people who are right in front of you. Listen to sermons on God’s Lordship. Remember the place he deserves. Don’t forget to live the moments that are in front of you.
This is your Race. Don’t lose a month. Don’t forget that you only get 11 months. You get one shot. One race. Its not only yours though; it something you share with your team and your squad. What did you do today to improve your team? What person did you intentionally pour into today? What treat did you buy this week that you gave away?
Don’t leave or give up. Don’t live a life of regret. The Race will end. Live, World Racer. Just a few months from now you will gain a new title: Alumni.
