What has 6 months on the World Race taught me?

I was posed this question just a few days ago, and I realized that at some point, I have to put into words what I’m learning and what this journey is teaching me. I struggle to find the words; more often than not, I feel like I’m trying to explain how to build a rocket. It feels like I’m trying to explain something that I know nothing about. I mean, we just left a few days ago, right?

Then I realize that this is MONTH 6, and we’re already halfway done. And in just a few weeks time, we will be the most seasoned racers on the field (we will miss you September 2014 launches!!) and somehow, we’re supposed to know what we’re supposed to do.  That last statement makes me laugh out loud when I think about it.

But 11 things (because that’s what we do around here) that I’ve learned on the race so far:

  1. I prefer my sleeping pad, and its accessories, on the floor to a bed.

  2. Choosing to pick the hard thing is a choice I have to make every day.

  3. The Race has the potential to set you into a position where God will change your life.

  4. This is the hardest thing I have ever done, to date, second to nothing.

  5. Adjustment is hard in the first month, and gets easier as time goes on.

  6. Places quickly become “home” when you realize that you just left yours for the next 11 months.

  7. The body of Christ around the World is second to no other group of people around the world.

  8. Blogging on a regular basis, even seeing new places every month, is hard.

  9. God is faithful, all the time, and He never, ever fails, even in an earthquake.

  10. People are following this journey much more closely than you first imagine.

  11. The Word, and your time in it, is the breath you need to be alive.

I think this list could go on forever. I wish I could express to you more what it means to me that I get the chance to do this thing called the World Race. It has meant more to me in this season
