Latvia Highlights:
1. Arriving to our ministry site in Latvia, we soon found that our new home would be living in a LIBRARY! (Little did we know, we would actually have the fairly plush accommodations of our own little furnished apartment at the Mission’s Center! Such a blessing.)
2. We were invited to a PANCAKE PARTY, which in Latvia and Eastern Europe are actually crepes. In my mind, that’s even better. Also, at the end of the month, we had a pancake party where we learned to make crepes and waffles with the Day Center kids, which was so much fun.
3. It was a BEAUTIFUL PARALLEL coming from Africa to Europe.
4. I attended the PRAYER NIGHTS at St. Gregor’s and the Latvian singing filled my soul. I felt completely refreshed and rejuvenated in every way.
5. I experienced direct SPIRITUAL WARFARE in a way that I will never forget.
6. ONE DIRECTION is now infused in my mind. Bringing back the boy bands…
7. Our team helped to host a GOD’S LOVE SCHOOL weekend for teens.
8. We border-hopped to LITHUANIA for the day for less than $9 USD and saw the Hill of Crosses.
9. In Kuldiga, we climbed up to the BELL TOWER of a church overlooking the city and also came across a HOBBIT HOLE.
10. I had no idea how popular THRIFT SHOPS were in Latvia (or at least the town we stayed in, Saldus). They were so convenient for our winter clothing buys.
11. We were interviewed for a Latvian Christian RADIO STATION.
12. This month we got to COOK for ourselves. This was somewhat of a big deal, seeing as I love to come up with tasty creations.
