Since the 16th of July my team and I have settled into a small beach town called Jacó in Costa Rica.
Our ministry partner and hosts during our time here is Oceans Edge.
Oceans Edge is an incredible ministry. I mean INCREDIBLE! One of their roles is supporting the other ministries in town. (The churches, pre-natal center, service projects throughout the town, painting the town art/murals, and even babysitting for the other missionaries in the community)
During our time here the Spirit-filled, awe-inspiring, strong women of Oceans Edge are pouring into us through intentional relationships, devotionals, and teachings. Their mission is to equip and encourage missionaries as they live their lives on mission. It’s the same concept I blogged about a few weeks ago. We spend time with God first and through that we have an overflow of love to give the world.
You can learn so so much more about Oceans Edge on their website. I highly encourage you to check it out!

We’ve been here for about a week now. I can say confidently that I’ve fallen in love with this place. It feels like home. Hallelujah!
A little history: Jacó for a long time was known as the Sodom and Gomorrah of Costa Rica. Moms would worry if their children said they were coming here. When you step out of the beautiful blue waves you’ve got streets full of strip clubs, prostitution, drugs, reckless drinking, etc. This is only a hint of life here.
Jacó is a heavily trafficked tourist town. Which means it’s beautiful and developed. People retire here, have vacation homes here, and visit from all over the world.
Today: Jacó still has strip clubs, prostitution, drugs, reckless drinking, etc. It’s home to a lot of cultures and people groups. However NOW one of those people groups is the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah! Jacó now has two churches – one Spanish and one English. There are many missionaries living here long-term with developed ministries of all kinds (including surfing!) People from all over Costa Rica are actually seeing the shift of life here in Jacó. (What a testimony!)
Today Jacó is soaked in prayer. People can see and feel the difference. In Genesis 1 we read the story of creation. In verse 2 it says “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” Well Jacó was once void and in the darkness but now the Spirit of God is hovering over these waters. His presence is here. His presence is felt. I can see Him moving! So I pray this over Jacó. My heart cries out to our Father on behalf of this place. Jacó is a new creation in Jesus Name. An awakening is coming! Hallelujah!
My team and I are here in Jacó until the 7th of August. If you’d like to you can partner with us in prayer!
In the meantime we are literally painting the town on behalf of Jesus. There are 39 light posts that the city officials have offered to us to paint murals on! Did you hear me? We’re painting LIGHTPOSTS. Jesus is literally the LIGHT of the world. WHAT. HALLELUJAH. This is an incredible opportunity.
We’re also painting a large mural at the church where the youth meet and one in the local park.
We’re not just painting! Painting is just a passion of mine! Stay tuned for more updates and pictures on specific ministry things!
Thank you for your prayer and encouragement! If you’ve got questions please ask them!
Thanks for reading!
