Well, guys, it’s the start of my last month on the World Race.
11 countries in 11 months.
In October 2017, our squad of 19 beautiful and wonderful humans from all over the US boarded a plane in Atlanta, Georgia not knowing what to expect. It seems like it’s been forever since then.
We’ve been to Serbia, Romania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Panama, and Costa Rica.
Wow. It’s been awhile!
Here is a quick recap of my 10th month on the World Race and an intro to my 11th and final month!
At the end of June our squad said goodbye to Panama and to the teams we had had for the past five months. Before traveling to Costa Rica for month 10 (July), we had team changes. The Lord blessed us tremendously with not just a team but a family. Six of us in total: Chelsea, Nettie, Kristie, Jonathan, Zach, and myself.
We arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica and met up with our host family. We fell in LOVE with them. The Lord once again blessed us tremendously. We spent the month living and working with our host family (from Alabama) and partnering with a ministry called Conexion founded by our Colombian family. It was a month full of laughter, joy, service, and family.
With tears swelling up in our eyes, my team and I said goodbye to our Conexion family and ended month 10.
On the 24th of July we traveled to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica to meet up with the rest of our squad for a short debrief and preparation for month 11.
Normally, we would be assigned a ministry host and partner with them but for our last and final month, we have been given freedom to go out on our own (actually in teams of at least 3). Our debrief at the end of month 10 was designed for us to spend a ton of time with the Lord in order to seek out His will for each one of us for the last month of this particular journey.
Each one of us individually asked the Lord where He wanted us to go, what He wanted us to do, what He wanted our last month to look like, etc. After seeking the Lord our squad came together corporately and announced what the Lord gave us. Those who had similar callings grouped together and formed teams.
Well, the Lord called the team that we had in month 10 back to the same place! Individually we were asked to return in partnership with Conexion. Our family is reunited!
On July 27th our team, with the addition of four others, hopped on a bus and traveled back here to San Jose, Costa Rica to begin our LAST MONTH.
Check out my next blog to find out the ins and outs of what ministry in the last month actually looks like!
