For our last month on the World Race our squad of 19 each individually asked the Lord for His will. We asked what He wanted us to do, where He wanted us to go, what He was calling us into, etc.
We came together and spent time going around the room speaking out what the Lord had told each one of us. The people who the Lord had called into similar things grouped together and formed a team. (We were required for safety purposes to stay in at least groups of 3).
Well, the Lord in all His sweet sweet goodness called my team from month 10 back together. we had all split up to seek the Lord, and didn’t know until each person had spoken in the midst of our whole squad that the Lord had called us all back together. (I almost started crying as one by one my teammates announced they were returning)!
Praise be to God! Gosh. It just goes to show that when we abide in the Lord our desires become His desires and He gives us what ask for!
You see, for month 10 our team was assigned to partner with a ministry called Conexion in San Jose, Costa Rica. Conexion was founded many years ago by a Colombian missionary. Several years after he founded it, he met a family from Alabama who had moved to Costa Rica as full time missionaries. These two families became one big Columbian/US family and continued pursuing the Lord by stepping out in obedience wherever the Lord sent them.
Conexion now goes wherever they are needed in Costa Rica. Their mission is to love and serve the people. Their ministry consists of construction work, painting, kids ministry, preaching, medical missions expeditions, and their own Conexion band leads people all over Costa Rica in worship and praise to the Lord.
While partnering with Conexion our team of six lived with the family from Alabama. Beth and Bryan along with their daughter Kirsten and an intern named Katie from Texas.
We fell in love with each and every one of these beautiful humans! While we were living with them they treated us as their own. Often, Beth and Bryan would call us their kids and we would call them mom and dad. Through daily living and family dinners around the table we bonded and truly became one big family.
We spent our free time laughing, joking, swapping tv sitcom and movie references, playing games, sharing stories, and having good, deep and vulnerable conversations.
I grew to truly value this deep family connection and realized that this is what the Lord intended in creating community and ultimately His church. Woah.
Now in month 11, our team is back with Conexion. However, we won’t be spending all of our days with Conexion.
We move back in with Beth and Bryan on the 1st of August. Half of this month, will be spent with Conexion and the other half will be focused on the specific things the Lord called us to outside of Conexion.
For me, God laid the word preparation on my heart. The days I am not working with Conexion I will be sitting with the Lord in prayer, intercession, and simply listening to what He has to say. The specific things that I’ve already been given to prepare for are:
-Seeking the Lord in preparation to return to the States well
-Praying for encouraging Christian community
-Interceding for the church
-Interceding for family and friends
-Listening to where the Lord is calling me to after the Race
-Simply listening to Him
-Worship
-Meditating on His Word (the Bible)
I’ve been sent out this month with the goal of being prepared to return home well, fully filled with the Spirit, rested, and empowered to reveal His Kingdom in every part of life.
That being said, I want to open up the opportunity for anyone and everyone to send me your prayer requests and also any questions you may have about anything. I’m leaving the door wide open!
I can’t thank everyone enough for your encouragement and support! I love you all so very much!
