We love because God first loved us. 1 John 4:19.

Have you ever thought about this? God didn’t call us into servanthood. He called us into sonship. He didn’t create us to earn His approval. God created us to love us. It’s then through an overflow of His love that we love others.

This is the season of life that the Father and I are walking through right now. I unknowingly dove into an ocean of His love when I agreed to step into team leading for V Squad.

This is V Squad’s first of eleven months on the mission field. (We’re currently in Nicaragua.) As a squad we are learning what it looks like to meet God individually in intimate ways such as prayer, worship, and studying scripture. Then we get to activate it in ministry.

For example, Friday we spent an hour individually praying and listening to the Father. We then spent an hour individually studying His Word. After that we got into our teams and went out into the community to do ministry.

We later agreed that the time we took that morning to meet with the Father set us up for the day. We were more aligned with His Spirit and He filled us up so that we could then overflow and pour out His love to the community around us. Ultimately that intimate time enabled and empowered us to walk out our calling to reveal His Kingdom wherever we went.

Guys. I think Father God just slapped me in the back of the head. This is something so simple that I’ve completely missed as a Christian, missionary, and follower of Jesus. I can love people because I receive God’s love. It’s BEAUTIFUL. God is so loving to us. I’ve been able to love my team of strangers on such a deep level because of how much I’ve been receiving my Father’s love lately.

I’m crying tears of joy just writing this out. My only desire from this post is to encourage you, my dear reader, to go and seek to understand God’s love. It’s a process that takes time. It’s okay that it takes time. Just let God love you today.

P.S. Our ministry this month is simply meeting people in this community, hearing their stories, sharing our stories, praying over them, and allowing them to pray over us. We’ve been visiting people in their homes, going to the nursing home, the dump, and the city center. It’s been such a surreal example of the Kingdom right here on earth.

If you desire to pray here’s a few specific things:
-Open hearts
-Joy
-Unity
