Last night we received a key on a necklace, “keys for the journey”. The Lord laid this on our squad mentor’s (Austin) heart 5-6 months ago. (This is actually something recent that the Lord has started with the World Race.) These keys are engraved with various attributes or scriptures to be specifically chosen, with the Lord’s guidance, for each individual. So Austin prayed over us and asked the Lord for words for each of us. The idea is that we will wear these keys, pray over them, and meditate on them until we have fully received that specific attribute from the Lord. Then, since we have now reached the fullness of that attribute, we can now speak it into someone else’s life and ask the Lord to help guide that person in their journey.

So mine says “aweness” (which I realize isn’t actually a word), but that’s what it says and I honestly love it. I’m not actually sure what that means for me or looks like in my life though. However, I am only just beginning to meditate on it and process it. So for now I have an idea to start a list of the things that the Lord shows or presents me with that I become in awe of. Like, one of those moments that can only be described as awe moments when the Lord is just so clearly present.

For example, last year in Honduras my team and I had wandered up this huge hill/side of a mountain. Standing at the top you could see out across the mountains with city down below and the feelings of clarity I received from the Spirit in that moment are indescribable.

Also at training camp, just a little over a month ago, when the band had stopped playing their instruments and it was nothing but the pure and unfiltered voices of all 3 squads united in the worship of the Lord. In the midst of that the Holy Spirit spoke into my heart, “this is what Heaven is really like”. It was just so beautiful and just another ‘mind-blown, totally in awe of the Lord and His Spirit’ kind of moment.

These are the moments I think of when I think of “aweness” – being in awe of the Lord and His never ending power/love.

I have a friend/mentor who told me before I left to find a positive thing about each day. No matter how big or small. Find the positive and thank the Lord for it. That will help in the hard times and the best moments. So I thought “cool, easy, simple”. Though, it wasn’t until I began to meditate over the key and the word “aweness” that this advice just slid its way to the forefront of my mind.

SO. I guess I’m saying all of this to say, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! I will continue to post is keystories about how the Lord confronts me/my teammates with moments of aweness. Those stories will also have their own section/tag. So look specifically for Keys of the Journey related blogs!
