So we are officially wrapping up month 3 in Bulgaria with tomorrow being our last day of ministry. It is such a bittersweet time of goodbyes and new beginnings heading to Asia.
This month we have had the extreme pleasure of working with our host and his family in a town called Dupnitsa. We’ve had the opportunity to do construction on a new church, teach English classes, harvest vegetables and help out with church services on Sundays. It’s been such a cool experience getting to learn new skills, like putting up drywall, and be able to contribute to the literal foundation of a church. Our host, Damian, and his two children do everything! They are the ones physically building and funding the new church, running it, and teaching the English classes along with other languages. They never take a rest day or slow down, I honestly have no idea how they do it. They work so hard and I know that God is going to do some awesome things here.
God has been using them to teach me so much this month through hard work. I’ve seen that even when things are hard or it seems like the end game is still so far away you have to keep pushing through. That God set us out on these particular paths and He knew every obstacle that we would face but that He is also with us every step of the way. When God calls us He never promises that it will be easy only that it will be worth it. Each day I have seen the sacrifices that our hosts have made, and continue to make, and their obedience to the Lord. It has been such a beautiful and humbling thing to see. For this, and all of the other wonderful people we have met here, closing this chapter of our journey and saying goodbye to Europe will be hard.
That being said we are also very excited to start the chapter that is Asia! We will be in Asia for the next 3 months, starting in Malaysia. We will be headed to George Town, Penang on Saturday where we will be working with YWAM where we will be working with the homeless, teaching, sports ministry, kids ministry as well as doing street ministry. I can’t wait to see what next month hold and all that God will do in Asia.
