Is it possible to love someone who lives thousands of miles away, whom you've never met, and doesn't even speak your language? I know it sounds crazy, but that's what happened when I began sponsoring 3 yr old Emeling Sanchez to receive an education at Lifelink International in Nicaragua. For only $35/mo I adopted a new family, established an awareness of missions, and fell in love with the hope and possibilities that this precious child would have. A year after sponsoring Emeling, I met her on a short term mission trip to Nicaragua!!!! There are no words to describe the impact that this trip has had on my life, but a piece of my heart was left there and I immediately knew that this was not my last dance with international missions. God used Emeling to jumpstart a plan for my life, and in September I will be an official World Racer! What's best is that I will be returning to Nicaragua as part of my route! What started as a 'good deed' has now become a destiny. Her family wanted to thank me for giving their daughter a chance at a future through a 1st class education, but I am thanking their daughter for giving me a reason to live out my future the way God intended.
