Mission life is different for sure! But it is different for reasons other than most of you would expect.  It’s different because of where my head is, most of the time, because I’m not thinking about television and traffic.  It’s also different because of all of the intentional time that I get to spend with God & my community. (The community part is sometimes really great BUT sometimes not so great) cheeky However, when it comes to our living arrangements and day-to-living, mission life this month seems rather familiar. It has been a nice transition so far, and I would even venture to say that it’s kinda like home. Here’s a sneak peek of life in The Guats!!!

I share a room with 4 other ladies. We have bunk beds, running hot water, and share one shower/toilet. NO SQUATTY POTTY!!! I absolutely enjoyed rooming with these lovelies for a month.

Guatemala Roomates

We eat dinner, play games, and enjoy a friendly massage every now and again. I’ve never been one to turn down a free massage … not about to start now! These guys are slowly but surely becoming a 2nd family to me.

We celebrate Independence Day with parades of cute kids in the drum line

We stop and pet the horses and chickens that live on the roadside. Ok, maybe we don’t see or pet turkeys on the side of the road, but I said this is KINDA like home not JUST like home! Hehehe …

We take taxis (Or TukTuks as they call them in Guatemala) when we’re too tired or lazy to walk to our destination.  Or … maybe we take TukTuk rides just for kicks and to say we’ve ridden in one!

BUT … If these pictures aren’t good enough (I’m not the best at taking photos) and you’d REALLY like a better idea of what Month 1 was like in Guatemala, you must watch this AWESOME video created by my awesome teammate Carly Marin

I know this blog is about a month late, but it’s never too late to let all of my supporters and followers know that I’ve gotten off to a great start! I was able to spend my first month in Guatemala with our entire squad and my team was able to ease into this World Race as we eased away from our friends, family, and comforts back home.

I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped me to get to this place and experience such wonderful things. I’m able to see God’s love in people, places, and situations that I never imagined would be possible. I’m also blessed to have raised over $12,000 already!! This means that I have surpassed my December deadline and am well on my way to being fully funded.

We are now in Chinandega, Nicaragua where we are getting a chance to experience ALL KINDS of new ministry.  Stay tuned for my next blog where I will talk more about what ministry in Central America has looked like for me and my team.  Also, don’t forget to subscribe and share my blog with others so that they can subscribe as well! I look forward to sharing with you all and including you in what God is doing through me and for me around the world.
