We all love super heroes. Think about it … why do you think Marvel Comics is making so much money right now? It's because we have an undeniable draw towards the incredible, the extraordinary. We love seeing the good guy win and the underdog overcome. Movies such as Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Iron Man, & Thor (the list can go on and on) have dominated box offices! Now I'm sure a significant part of it has to do with the beautiful eye candy — Man of Steel … be steel my heart!! — but the main reason is because WE. LOVE. SUPER HEROES! We live through them and we secretly (sometimes not so secretly) want to be them.
SUPERHERO DEFINED
su·per·he·ro (n) : A benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman.
Well, we know a real life superhero named Jesus. And He amazingly has bestowed His power to us!! We can be benevolent. We can be extraordinary. We can save lives. We can be superhuman, and we don't have to be fictional. Superhuman really just means we exhibit characteristics that are beyond ordinary and normal human ability. I mean, who really wants to be ordinary anyway???!
Adventures In Missions is partnering with Food For The Hungry, a faith based international relief and development organization serving the poor in Africa, Asia Latin America and the Caribbean (after 30 countries), to give YOU the chance to be someone's superhero! For only $35 a month, you can be an instrumental part in saving a young person's life by providing them with an education, clean water, stable food, and access to medical help. But that's not all!! Your sponsorship of a child through the Food For The Hungry program also comes with a donation towards my World Race. For every child that is sponsored from my page, Adventures In Missions will donate $50 to my mission trip. IF THAT ISN'T EXTRAORDINARY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS!
I'm sure I have your attention now, so here is how to move forward with becoming a Super Hero:
Simply click on the "Food For The Hungry" picture on the right (You can also find this same link on the left hand side of my home page)- You will be redirected to a separate web page that gives you step by step instructions in sponsoring a child.
- Choose a child and sponsor them!
It's that easy friends!! I currently sponsor a child in Nicaragua, and I can tell you from personal experience that it is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done!! I correspond with her via letters and I've even been able to visit her and her family in person! Food For The Hungry works extremely hard to allow you to visit your sponsored child, if that is something that you desire. You may not believe that $35/month does much, but when you meet your child and see their smiling face and feel the gratitude that comes from them, you soon realize that you are a super hero to them. It is the greatest feeling in the world!

(Me with my sponsored child, Emeling, & some of her classmates)
James 1:27 says, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you". Remember, sponsoring a child also means that you are donating $50 to my World Race and partnering with me to do even more around the world. (What an AWESOME 2-for-1!!!) Let's not wait any longer. Let's be the hands and feet of Jesus. Let's care for the orphan in their distress. Let's say YES to pure and genuine religion. And let's become SUPER MAN & SAVE A LIFE!
