Our ministry this month looked different from our previous months. Every week we helped a different ministry out in Lima. Public transportation was our way getting around anywhere, and most of the time we spent at least three hours a day on a bus. That took a lot of energy with so much traffic, noise, and people!

Our first week, we helped one of the pastors in an area called Callao, known to be one of the dangerous parts of Lima. We were advised not to bring any cameras or phones.

That week we worked with disabled individuals. We made them feel loved by dancing, singing, and playing games . In Peru, there is no governmental aid for those who are disabled. But that doesn’t stop that pastor from finding funds, resources and volunteers to support them.

In the afternoons we helped with children’s ministry, invitng kids from that neighborhood. He had found a dentist that was able to come in and volunteer her time to educate them how to stay healthy and brush their teeth. Afterwards she would give all of them free cleaning and check ups!

The second week we helped with a young couple who started a hope station called Estacion de Esperanza. They aim to be a safe place for kids in the slums of Lima when they don’t have anywhere to go. This couple married couple of years ago, adopted four kids from the slums and now building a home right in the slums. Our team did mostly construction work to help them save money in the beginning of the week. Later in the week we held English classes for all the kids!

The third week we partnered with YWAM in Ventenilla, just outside of Lima. It varied from visiting different schools and doing different programs to house visits and praying for those who have lost or are losing hope in Christ. So many were encouraged and were touched by the Holy Spirit!

And just like that month nine is over! Next destination is Chile!!
