Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, Shine; for your Light has come!”

When Isaiah made the declaration to arise and shine, it was a command reserved for those who received the Light that Jesus brought into the world. He is that Light and those who received His Light unto salvation are required to arise. It is a command. Many wait for something else to happen to them. But he says, “Get up, now! And while you’re getting up, shine!”
I read this verse and quote that I read in a book called, “Face to Face with God” and it gave me such encouragement that I thought I would share. See we have to remember that wherever we are and whatever we are doing we have this Light and we are shining with His love. We don’t have to have it all together to be able to shine.
For some reason I am really fond of this word, “Shine.” I think it is really powerful and is the essence of how we are to be once we receive Christ. What we have received from God, we want to give away to all that will listen – this is “Shining.” I really like the definition the author uses in his book, “Shining is an act of giving away who we are.”
When we encourage – we shine
When we show honor – we shine
When we show mercy – we shine

When we sit in a prayer meeting – Shine
When we clean homes and the church – Shine
When we wait hours for a bus, only to find out we are waiting at the wrong stop – Shine
When people can’t understand English – Shine
