1. Your contact saves the Christmas decorating to you and your team because they know how special it is to Americans.
2. You convince the bus to stop right in front of your house coming back from Penang to save you a taxi ride.
3. While swimming on the beach a bald eagle circles over the water in front of you, a true kiss from Heaven.
4. You go Christmas caroling in 6 houses over 2 days and get fed more wonderful food then you ever thought you could. But then you eat on Christmas Day and find out eating more then what you did those nights is possible…
5. You don’t want to pay for a taxi home, but you also don’t want to walk because it is so hot. So you decide on the taxi, and the driver ends up giving you a free ride just because.
6. Pastor and Ama joke with you more then one time saying you should get married to an Indian man because your Indian accent is so good. 😉 😉 (I told them to be my matchmakers)
7. You sit in a restaurant down the street from 10:30 pm to 1 am on Christmas Day so that you can Skype your family because it is the only place around that has free wifi.
8. You use a brick, and broken glass bottle to try to open a coconut in a park, but a Malaysian man comes out with a HUGE knife to help you because he knew that you were never going to get it with your methods.
9. You find every reason to leave the church because it sometimes can feel like a prison.. Just a Jesus prison.. 🙂
10. You find out as many ways as you can to eat Roti because you eat it literally for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Roti with cheese, Roti with Egg, Roti with sugar, Roti with banana, Roti with Dol (gravy), Roti any way you want it.
11. You get a little taste of India, even though you didn’t get to go, because your contact and all his church members are Indian/Malay. Including wearing the traditional outfits of a Sari, Panjabi suit and experiencing a variety of Indian food.
And a bonus one just because… 🙂
12. You ring in the New Year by having sparatic dance parties all day long, countdown to midnight, have a team prayer and worship time, and end up eating nachos at 3 in the morning.
