In Japan one of the few foods that is in our WR budget is Instant Noodles (or Ramen).
We all were prepared to just deal with this option and do our best to supplement where and how we could.
But from day one Peter said, “Jesus will provide. Jesus will provide.” When we tried to talk with him about food.
I didn’t really completely grasp what was meant by this until our first Sunday at Ando’s church. He talked about being prepared but the part that hit me the most was when he shared about feasting with God.
We live in a time of instant this and fast that but we miss out on the journey and experience when this happens. We weren’t meant to receive all we need and desire all at one time. We receive things as we need them.
Would you choose feasting that took 4 hours to complete or an instant noodle bowl to satisfy you??
The obvious answer is to choose the four hour feast because it would be so much more satisfying. But how often do we just get our five minute fill and then head on with our day.
About halfway through this month I had a breakdown (like ugly cry breakdown). It wasn’t because I wasn’t getting any “spiritual nutrition” but I wasn’t getting enough to satisfy my desire. I felt dry, empty, tired and alone.
It is because I was choosing the instant noodle God out of the busyness of life instead of truly pressing into the feast The Lord had for me. That night I went upstairs and reminded myself of the fulfillment and peace that comes from feasting with The Lord. And I want to continue feasting daily in Him instead of choosing the small/quick fix of instant.
This month we have been beyond blessed by our host families and I personally haven’t eaten even one bowl of ramen since being here. Praise The Lord.
The Lord wants to provide for my every need abundantly if I am willing to wait and rest in Him. I choose today to feast with The Lord because that is what He desires for me.
