Guess who the lucky one is that gets to drive this month.
Yes, that’s me! After not driving for 7 months, I get to drive the group of 25 around
Phuket, Thailand in a 5 speed truck…Jesus take the wheel!!!
When I found out, I wanted to turn it down, but they Lord
didn’t give me time. As soon as I walked outside, the contact asked if I was
ready for my test drive. With fear in my voice, I nervously responded
“yyeesss.” I went on my test drive and passed with flying colors, but I was not
sure about driving. I laughed out loud a few minutes later when our contact
told me I was driving to ministry. Of all people to pick, why me? Immediately I
got to put my driving into action by following our contact to ministry. Me, and
all the people in the back of the truck, made it safely, but I still wasn’t
satisfied with my driving. Throughout our day on the field, I thought about
ways I could back out. Then I heard the Lord say, “DO YOU TRUST ME? I WILL BE WITH YOU!” I said yes and immediately
repented for not trusting him with this. I told Him that I needed some more
practice of following someone but I know I can do it.
On the way home, the Lord continued to teach me this lesson.
Five minutes into the 40 minute drive, we lost our contact in traffic. I was
now on my own, in Thailand, during rush hour, driving on the wrong side of the
road, with no sense of direction which way was home!! Yet again I hear God say,
“DO YOU COMPLETELY TRUST ME?” At
this point, I stopped and prayer and asked the Lord to lead us home. There was
nothing I could do but trust that he would send His Holy Spirit to show us the
way. And that’s exactly what he did. An hour later (a little longer than
expected) we arrived safely at SHE!
We are called to trust in the Lord. We are not supposed to
worry, but we are supposed to cast all our worries on Him. These commands are
so much easier said than done. I can say I trust the Lord, but do I truly trust
Him in all aspects of my life?… NO!
Oh the ways the Lord teaches us lesson. Whether it’s
driving, leading a bible study, looking for a lost wallet, or doing mission
work for 11 months, the Lord is going to get His point across.
This month is about me learning to trust, in the big things
and the small ones.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean
not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will
make your paths straight.” Prov 3:5
