When in Cambodia…
Live as the
Cambodians do!!
We are working with Teen
Challenge which helps boys overcome drug addictions. At first I was
nervous, but all the anxiety disappeared when I stepped out of the van the
first day. Though the boys had a drug problem, they have incredible hearts. The
Lord is using the staff of TC to change lives every day.
Updates from week one:
·
I played soccer in the rain with the boys the first
day
·
We are working in the rice fields the first week
·
After work, we walk to the local pond to wash
off (I don’t really know how clean it gets you, but it’s a break from all the
heat)
·
Meals consist of rice and veggies every day
·
Living conditions are back to “survival of the fittest”:
no A/C, limited electricity, sleeping on the floor, using a mosquito nets to
keep from getting a million bug bites, squatty potties, and bucket showers
·
You wake up at 4am when the chickens start to
crow
·
Afternoon runs feel like a parade, because
everyone wants to yell HELLO to you
·
The sunsets are out of this world
The Lord has great plans this
month. Pray that he uses us to impact each of the boys’ lives. Thanks for the
continued prayers and support!
