I have to admit, I was not looking forward to being away from family during the holidays!! I love my family and our traditions: 5K Turkey Trot, watching the Thanksgiving Day parade, family football game (and its legit!!!), eating, watching football, eating more, napping, shopping, etc!!!
Thankfully, my Daddy knows exactly what I need to make it through the holidays…
This year I spent my Thanksgiving in Nicaragua.
DAY 1
We did a Scavenger hunt through the village to find a turkey
We Bargained with a local to get the best price
We got the turkey DRUNK (the contact said that was the secret to the best turkey— better meat and easier to kill…. sounded kinda crazy but we went with it)
We Killed it
We (I didn't partake in this step) plugged it feather by feather
DAY 2
We (me and 3 teammates) Ran the Turkey Trot through the village while everyone stared
We cooked the turkey using our own concotion bc you can't find any spices in Palacaguina
We slaved in the kitchen for 6 hours
We ate an amazing meal
After dinner, we did the Cotton Eye Joe (Lauras family tradition)
We finished the night with an evening walk through town
