Every day is a new adventure at our home in Guatemala. I’ve been here over 8 months, and I don’t think there have been two days that have looked the same. That definitely messes with my planner side, but stretches me to depend that much more on the Lord.

Last night ended like most nights. One of our leaders recapped the day and highlighted a few tasks that needed to be done the next day. Just when I thought I had slid under his radar, Jonathan turned to me and said, “And Kristin Rene’ will be bringing the Word at the meeting tomorrow morning.”

With my eyes popped out like a bug, a million things ran through my mind.

What? I can’t teach. That’s not my gifting.

When I finally calmed myself and let the lies fade away, I heard the Lord say, “You’ve got this.”

I smiled and complied. I went on with my night, but the thoughts of what to teach on lingered in the back of my mind.

What about love? That’s easy and has a lot of information I can teach on. How about intimacy? We talk about that a lot, and I’m sure I can talk on it for about 30 minutes.

As each idea ran through my mind, nothing settled on my heart. The Lord had something different. He had something new.

I went to bed a little uneasy.

I’m teaching in 9 hours and I have nothing.

BUT I woke up with peace.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I heard the Lord say, “Teach on what I’m teaching you— being a daughter, a queen and living your life that way.”

I argued with the Lord for a minute.

How can I teach on something that I don’t have all the answers to?

He reassured me, “It’s me teaching through you. They need to hear what I’m saying to you.”

I submitted to His will, grabbed my bible, and started praying that he would download exactly what I was supposed to say in an hour…

Nine o’clock came quicker than I would have liked, but unbeknownst to me I had peace and a confidence that filled the table.

I began by saying a quote by Bill Johnson, “WE SHOULD RULE WITH THE HEART OF A SERVANT AND SERVE WITH THE HEART OF A KING.”

When I first heard this quote, something about it made it stick. Day after day, it would ring through my mind.

How do we live like this? How do we serve with the heart of a King?

But I had to back up. Before we can serve like this, we must know our identity as Kings/ Queens, as Royalty.

The Lord then took me to Luke 15— The Story of the Prodigal Son.

Luke 15: 31 says, “Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.”

This pierced my heart in a whole new way. I am Royalty.  We are Royalty. The Lord calls us His. And everything He has is Mine. Is Ours.

So if everything is ours, how do we live that lifestyle? How do we change our poverty mentality to that of Royalty?

Then, the Lord took me to two examples.

First, in 2 Chronicles 7, the Lord called attention to Solomon’s life. After Solomon had already given so much of his time and wealth to building the temple, he praised the Lord and continued to give more. Solomon didn’t just give the Lord his left overs, but he gave a surplus to the Lord knowing the Lord’s storehouses are endless and He would restore everything that Solomon had given away.

Solomon knew his identity as a King. He gave because of who he was wanting to give honor to the one receiving his gift.

Second, in John 12, the Lord called attention to the life of Mary. In this particular instance, Mary poured out her expensive anointing oil to wash the feet of Jesus and then wiped them with her hair. She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t question, “Can I afford this?” She knew her wealth in the Lord and served with everything she had.

Mary got it. She was Royalty. And every bit of her actions displayed it.

As we read and discussed each of these, the Lord emphasized different parts of his character to everyone around the table. He highlighted areas in our lives that we need to change so we can serve like royalty.

And here's my challenge to you… First, do you see yourself as royalty? How do you need to change your lifestyle to serve as Royalty?

There is a good sermon on this by Bill Johnson if you want to check it out The Power of Royal Generosity
