Hello all! Right now our team is in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala. We finished up training on Thursday and then we were given a day of rest on Friday before all moving to our next location. This month we have been partnered with team Agape8 from our squad.   I realized the other day I should probably clarify something, I don’t want to confuse anyone 😉 – when I say “team” I am referring to the smaller team I was placed on, team N.E.O.N. When I say “squad” I am referring to the entire group of us that are on this trip. Ok, so moving on J ……We made the journey here by bus on Saturday…..only about a 9 hour drive (not so bad considering we thought it was going to be 15 J ). Once arriving we met up with our contact here, Paul. Paul moved here from Florida about 2 years ago and runs a local Christian radio station. Since arriving we have met Paul’s pastor and have started to reach out to one of the families in need at the church. We started work yesterday at the house of the family. As a team we have built a fence for the yard (and painted it), put gutters on the house, put up a water tank, and will start to paint the house soon. It has been fun getting to know the people here so far. They are so poor but so happy and SO grateful for the help we can give them! They have definitely welcomed us with arms wide open!

There are many different ministry opportunities for us here in Puerto Barrios. Paul was telling us the other night that there are many broken families here and many children that just need to feel loved. There are many children who are a product of the large prostitution ring here. We will be here for 3 weeks and I am excited to see where God will continue to work!

As a team we are all learning to adjust to the extreme heat here. We are all staying in a mission that consists of a living area (which is also a sleeping area for some of the team), kitchen, one bathroom, and 3 bedrooms with bunks. There are 16 of us together in the house with no air conditioning. We are getting used to the smell of sweat, haha. We actually feel pretty lucky though to have beds this month! We were not expecting anything like this and instead were expecting to be in our tents…..so, it’s a nice surprise!

Well, that’s it for now! I can’t wait to give you guys more updates!!!
