I was talking to some friends today about the process I am now in of fundraising and preparing to leave for a year. It's amazing how when people ask, I'm quick to say "The Lord will provide!", but when I sit down to look at details, I start to get overwhelmed. Thus, I relate to the father who approached Jesus about his son who was demon possessed. Jesus told him all things are possible for those who believe and he exclaimed "I believe: Help my unbelief!"
I enjoy including others in my journey, and hopefully challenging them in the process. Many people ask to be kept updated as well, so I am sending out letters; however, I was reminded today that God does not need my letters. I will pursue opportunities to earn additional money, cut costs, or hold other fundraisers, but He doesn't need hard work, a brilliant budget or creative fundraisers. If He wants me to take this journey, which I believe He does, He can and will provide. There's nothing wrong with these things and with planning, it's just all about about perspective and listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit!
I'm sure I'll have to do this many times; but today, I once again submitted this process to the King of this world who has adopted me as His daughter and therefore as His heir. I mean, Jesus sent out the disciples with nothing but His power and authority! So, shall I go (but I will have a backpack)! 🙂
"After this (after Jesus had already sent out His twelve disciples) the Lord appointed sevety-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where He Himself was about to go. And He said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go your way; behold, i am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house!' and if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. heal the sick in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.' ' " ~Luke 10:1-11
