Travel Days #11 (10/29/12 – 10/30/12): China to Philippines
After a short and smooth travel experience, I have arrived in the Philippines for my final month of the World Race. Wow! It is hard to believe that Month 11 is here already and that we have successfully completed all of these travel days. The next “travel days” blog that I post will be when I travel to the US. I have included an outline of this travel experience below as usual, though this one is far less eventful than most that I have posted about.
Monday, 10/29/12
11:30am – Squad meets back @ the hostel and brings packs to the lobby area
12:01pm – Walk down the street with packs to meet the bus
12:05pm – Begin loading the bus
12:28pm – Realize that I left my camera battery plugged in @ the hostel & RUN back to get it
12:34pm – All loaded & bus pulls away
1:08pm – Arrive @ Beijing airport
1:18pm – Go inside & begin security & check-in process
2:10pm – Complete check-in & security & go into waiting area to wait for the flight (no food or shops
)
4:00pm – Check boarding passes & load onto a shuttle bus to take us to the plane
4:17pm – Arrive @ plane and board
***WAIT on runway for a while due to “excessive air congestion.”
5:27pm – Plane takes off
8:01pm – Plane lands in Xiamen, China
8:20pm – Exit plane & head to immigration
8:27pm – Obtain China exit stamp & go around the corner to the re-entry gate
8:39pm – Re-board the same airline
9:23pm – Plane takes off
11:22pm – Plane arrives @ Manila, Philippines
11:35pm – Exit the plane & head to immigration
11:55pm – Go through immigration & obtain Philippines entrance stamp & proceed to baggage claim where someone already has my bag on a cart ![]()
Tuesday, 10/30/12
12:01am – Go through customs, pull out $$, and wait for squad leaders & logistics to locate our contact
12:54am – Contact is located & we head out to load up in vans
1:05am – Vans pull away from the airport
1:37am – Arrive @ KIM (Kid’s International Ministries) property in Manila
***Our full squad is here together for 5 days. Then 2 teams will stay and serve here and the other 3 teams (including mine) will fly to another island, Mindanao, where we will serve for the next 3 weeks. The ministry is awesome and I look forward to finishing the journey strong!
