Have you ever just stopped and asked the Lord what He has for you in this season of your life, more specifically for a word. Well, prompted by serving as a coach at our Project Searchlight (our 5 day event for returning racers) over the summer I did just that . . . and He answered. The word that He gave to me was Preparation.
Preparation . . . And??
My first reaction, as is typical with my personality, was to start with the follow-up questions. What exactly am I preparing for? What is the timeframe for this season? What are the end goals? How will I measure success? I wanted clarity so that I could lay out my plan.
This is where God spoke to me again and revealed to me, as He has done many times before, that I was trying to lay out MY plan. How often do we do this? We try as Christians to figure out exactly what God has planned so that we can determine how best to achieve it. If God is who we say that He is, then who are we to think that we can orchestrate or manage the plan better than He can? He has it figured out so all that we need to do is surrender it all to Him. I am learning to trust in Him and surrender to Him more and more each day. It’s a process, at times a challenging one, but always a strengthening one.
I do know that this season is about preparation . . . preparation of my heart, mind, body, and spirit for all that the Lord has for me in the future. At this time I do not know any more than that and I’m at peace about it . . . and truthfully quite excited! Whatever he has planned is far greater than anything that I could envision or design.
I would encourage all of you to pause and ask the Lord what His word is for this season your life . . . without the follow-up questions. Then evaluate your actions and efforts and make sure that this is where your focus is in your daily lives. I assure you that the greatest satisfaction and fulfillment in any season comes when we are honoring the Lord’s plan.
