Hi! I’m back! I know that it has been a while since I’ve posted a blog, but I was taking a much needed break . . . processing through my race and re-entry, reconnecting with family and friends, and wrestling with God over what was next for me. Over the past few months, there have been some highs and some lows but the Lord has been faithful through it all to provide me with exactly what I needed to bring me to exactly where He intends for me to be at this time according to His purpose.
I appreciate all of the prayers and encouragements that I received from many of you during this process. I am excited to share where and what the Lord has brought me to and how all of you can continue to be a part of this journey of faith and ministry with me.
When I returned from my 11-month journey, I was happy to be home and to reconnect with my family and friends. It was great to be able to pick up a phone and call people or to just stop by and visit with them in person. It was amazing to feel the hugs of my loved ones around my neck. It was wonderful to worship and be taught at my home church. It was awesome to enjoy the comforts and luxuries that I had missed . . . such as sleeping in a comfortable bed, taking hot showers every day, having access to whatever food I craved at any time, uninterrupted electricity, and Chic-Fil-A sweet tea as often as I desired!
Yes, I was happy to be home . . . but I was also broken for what I had seen over the past year and those that I had met along the way. My perspective on the world, the people and the issues, had been forever altered and I could not turn my back on that. So I had a burden on my heart to seek and to discern how the Lord would have me respond to His call on my life to continue to serve in ministry . . . and my excitement grew as I anticipated what would be next.
What is next is a staff position with Adventures in Missions in Gainesville, GA. I have been given an opportunity to use my gifts, skills, education and experience to further the ministries of an organization which has a tremendous impact on the needs of others both domestically and internationally. In my role, I will be working closely with the leadership team to collaboratively develop and implement systems and processes to mobilize the growing number of persons participating in short & long-term missions both in the United States and around the world. This organization is scaling for a movement and I am blessed that the Lord has chosen me to be a part of it.
I am excited to be stepping into this next season of my life and to accept the challenge that the Lord has laid before me. This is a step that I take with confidence but also on faith. Since this is a full-time ministry staff position, I must raise support to cover a portion of my salary. I know that the Lord will be faithful as always to provide for what He has purposed for me to do and I ask that each of you pray about how He may be directing you to continue your partnership with me in this next season through prayer, encouragement, and financial support.
I am eager to see how He will use me and affect me through this experience and I look forward to sharing my thoughts on these things with you in my upcoming blogs.
