For those of you that may not know, Thursday, January 19thwas my 34thbirthday and the first one that I have ever spent this far away from home. I was worried that it would make me sad, but I was wrong. It felt just like a normal day here, doing our regularly scheduled ministry. There was the added of bonus of everyone, including the kids in Mogollon and the people we met in the community, wishing me a Happy Birthday and offering extra hugs!
I was, however, able to skype with my parents, sister, and adorable niece Lilly . . .and my mom sang to me like always. I give her a hard time about her singing, but honestly my birthday wouldn’t have been the same without it.
My birthday fell on our weekly “fun night” so my team went out, with our translator/new friend Hector, and picked up Pizza (quite different from home but surprisingly good) and watched a movie . . .my pick!
I will say that on this birthday when I reflected, as I usually do on my birthday, about where I am with my life, I was more pleased than I often have been in the past. I am extremely grateful to the Lord for the many blessings as well as lessons of the past year and am eagerly embracing what He has in store for the coming year.
