It seems like every time you want to avoid or ignore a topic, it pops up everywhere. You’re unhappy with your singleness, so everyone and their brother is getting married. You’re too broke to travel, so everyone’s going on vacation. You hate your job, so everyone is getting a promotion in the field they love.

For me, I honestly don’t know what lies in store for me post-Race. Yet, it seems like lately this is the hot topic of conversation.

I totally get it. People want to know what’s next. I’m doing this incredible and crazy thing with a year of my life, so people want to know if I’m going to continue the trend or jump on the American bandwagon and get a 9 to 5 job.

Truth is, I don’t even know what I want to do. Do I want to teach? Do I want to go back to school? Do I want to pursue international ministry? Heck, if I know.

With all of this unsureness going on in my brain, I thought about the things I do want to do when I get back.

  1. Adopt a doggo. Preferably a puppy. I’ve never had one and for some reason I keep getting to pet them on the Race. I need a puppy.

  2. Go to the dentist. It’s not that I haven’t been regularly cleaning my teeth. But this water doesn’t have any fluoride and dental health is important.

  3. Go to the eye doctor. I haven’t worn contacts in so long, and all I want is to not wear ten pounds on my nose.

  4. Get a new phone. I definitely broke mine in Serbia (month 1). It’s fine. Everything’s fine.

  5. Go to Cultured Coffee and get my favorite salted caramel latte and a freaking awesome waffle. Also, burger waffles? What’s that about, Mike?

  6. Go to a Massillon football game. I miss the Friday night lights, warm pretzels, and a bunch of really old men yelling at teens for dropping the ball (they played better in the old days).

  7. Cuddle with my cat. He won’t like it and probably will run away. Why won’t you love me when I want to be loved?
