As month 5 comes to an end, the halfway point of the race is just a few weeks away. I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on what I’ve learned so far on the race. The biggest lesson I’ve learned seems pretty simple but it’s the one thing God has spoken to me more than anything else.

Seek Him.

When things get crazy and I feel like I can’t breathe, he reminds me “seek me”.
When things are perfect and I couldn’t ask for things to go any better, he reminds me “seek me”.
When I don’t know what to say or do, he reminds me “seek me”.

I know…it seems simple. Sometimes though, the last thing I think to do is turn to him first or seek Him. I get caught up in what others say or what I think. Over and over these past 5 months our Dad has gently reminded me that all I can do is seek Him. He will do the rest.

Month 2 I began to feel like God wanted me to have a reminder to seek Him. I began to toy with the idea of getting my third tattoo then. Every time I talked about getting it, the timing wasn’t right or it didn’t feel right. Last week though, everything lined up.

As I rode in the back of the van from scuba diving to where we were getting tattoos, I asked my Papa “are you sure you want me to do this?” His reply was perfect. “Yes my child. I want you to seek me. Get the tattoo on your thumb where you can see it everyday as a reminder to seek me.”

God provided the perfect time to get my tattoo too. I was able to be there for my friend Angela’s first tattoo. Alexandra was there for mine, which meant so much. She has played such a huge role in my growth over the past 5 months and heads home in a few days. By the end of the night, 8 racers out of 14 with us got tattoos. It will be such a fun memory and was such a cool moment for me.

Always seek Him. Seek Him at the beginning of your day. Seek Him for the words to say. Seek Him about your future. Seek Him when you don’t feel like it. Seek Him ALL the time. He won’t fail you. He will show up. He is faithful!

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33
