“Love isn’t how you feel. It’s what you do.” – Madeleine L’Engle, A Wind in the Door
This quote spoke wonders to me.
I’ve always known what love is and what it is supposed to look like. I have had several examples in my life to watch and learn from.
This week I started my Discipleship and Ethics class to earn a couple more credits to finish up my grad program. Our first assignment that we had was to read, A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L’Engle. I enjoyed it as it reminded me of my childlike faith and the magical imagination that lies deep within. The author whisked me away to her imaginary world and recalled me back to my childhood.
Growing up I was blessed to have a family who loved me know matter what. I always felt love, but I also knew how to love.
When we do something to show love to someone then it is also going to make them feel loved. I believe that if we want to feel something we must give something in return.
There are countless times that I can recall when someone did something out of love for me and my family.
This week I have been reminded of that selfless love.
Over the last couple of months I have been raising money to go on my World Race mission trip. I was overwhelmed by the amount of support that poured in. By May, I was able to meet my first financial goal of $5,000. After it my next goal was to raise a about one thousand dollars to be able to purchase all of my gear that was needed for the race.
Some of the gear included a hiking pack, my tent, a sleeping bag, a backpack, some toiletry items, water bottle, a pillow, clothing, and all the things in between. This gear that I needed to shop for would be with me during my entire 11-month trip so I searched to find what I believe would be the best for me. I soon became overjoyed and speechless as more support came in to help me with these needs.
I had a couple of families approach me last week who wanted to help me purchase several items and wanted me to have the best.
“We want you to have the best hiking pack that you can get.”
A day trip to KC with Kelsey, Jessica, & Cam. We love REI! Found several items and they even had a wonderful sale!
“Kricket, all of your items on your Amazon wish list have been purchased and will be here this week.”
Thank you Bruno family for my “wish list” gear. Beyond Grateful.
Oh, my heart.
People have continued to show me just what love is. I pray that I have shown the same love to them and that I can continue to share this kind of love to all those around the world.
I am forever in awe of how great our God is. He always shows me His unconditional love for me and surrounds me with people who love me and show me love in beautiful ways.
Love,
Kricket
