College has been a big part of my life. Specifically, 22% of my life has been spent in college. That is A LOT. 22% of my life has been spent learning to live more independently. 22% of my life has been spent working towards a major. 22% of my life has been spent cultivating friendships that I hope never disappear. Anderson University has been a place for me to learn about God, other people, and myself.
… and I am about to be done. In about two weeks, I will graduate and move on to new things. I am excited for change, but there are so many things and people that I will miss. It is a big transition, and I appreciate all the things that have happened to help me get to this point.
People keep asking what my plans for after graduation are, so I thought I would share them.
1. Soon after graduation, I am going back to one of my favorite places – Springhill Camp in Evart, MI. It is a place I had never been, prior to Summer 2014, but I quickly grew to love it. It was a place where I learned how to relate to kids, teach kids about God, and learned how to be in solitude with God.
2. After the summer, I plan to work in a school, hopefully as a long-term substitute music teacher for the first semester of school. I would love to get some experience teaching and using the skills I’ve learned in the past 5 years.
3. The World Race in January. I am so excited for this opportunity. I am ready to be pushed out of my comfort zone and I am ready to see God in a new way. My parents, whether they know it or not placed in me a want for experiences, rather than things. Sure I would love to have every new thing, but experiences carry so much more value. The World Race will be a new and challenging experience that I hope to learn and grow from.
I love having a plan, and I think it is good to have one, but in the end it doesn’t matter. I firmly believe that God will open doors for me that He wants open, and He will provide me with opportunities to grow when He wants. I am excited to see where God takes me in the next 19 months. I’m sure it will be an adventure.
