Hey sweet friends!
I cannot believe that Launch (World Race term referring to when we head to Atlanta, Georgia, gather altogether and then fly out to embark on our 11 month journey) is less than 45 days away! Time is flying and it’s such a bitter sweet feeling!
Preparation:
All of us that decided to go on The World Race all come from different backgrounds, different environments, different friends, family, work dynamics etc..
Since we each applied and got accepted to The World Race, our journeys of preparing have also been a bit different and continue to be leading up to launch.
But…theres one thing that I know we all have in common during this time as we get closer to leaving…While being so excited to leave, we feel there is so little time with so much to do.
In the midst of still working, going to school, making tons of to do lists, checking off things on those lists like: buy more gear, figure out what to actually pack for 11 months, get passport photos, take care of bills, figure out what to do with our phones, take care of our cars, get shots and medicine, organize our stuff that is staying back, FUNdraise, online training for the WR, staying SANE…We still need to and want to fit in intentional time spent with family and friends before being gone for 11 months.
These last weeks until I leave are going to go by really fast and I want to make sure I am able to spend time with people I love and care about.
That being said…please reach out if you want to see me before I leave. I would love to have you over for dinner or we can get coffee or food somewhere. If you do not live near me, lets plan a FaceTime date 🙂
I will also be having an open house from Dec 31-Jan 2 for drop in visits to say goodbye, pray with me and/or drop off letters(see below). I will post more details soon.
FUNdraising:
Many of you have already seen my post about my current fundraiser for the month of November ONLY. If not or for a reminder, I have partnered with Gorings to sell their jewelry to go towards my mission trip. I am a little less than $3,000 away from being fully funded thanks to so many generous and supportive people since the beginning of all of this but I still need your help!
Please share this fundraiser with family and friends. They make cute gifts especially with Christmas right around the corner and the jewelry is very simple but meaningful. Go to Gorings.com and use my name at checkout (you will find it in the scroll down option).
Here are some pictures of myself and friends who bought the rings:
Rings are popular but there are other options as well-Check out the website!
Letters from Home:
11 months is a long time from being away from home.
- Yes I will be living in constant community with my amazing squad or team
- Yes I will be experiencing once in a life time opportunities
- Yes I will be busy and trying to take in every sweet moment there will be
- Yes I will be leaning on God and those around me to pull me through tough times
BUT…there will be hard days
- days I miss home
- days I feel unmotivated
- days I feel defeated
- days I feel tired
- days I feel alone
- days I feel unworthy
THAT’S WHERE YOU COME IN!
I would love for you to write me a letter/letters or a card so I can bring them with me on the race. Letters and Cards are My thing. They will be extremely helpful when I just need to feel better, feel encouraged, feel extra loved, need a good laugh or smile.
Here are a few examples of letters:
- Open When Letters
- Open in a specific month
- Open in a specific country
- Letter to the whole team
- Just Because
I leave January 3rd so I will need them before. Please send them to my house or drop them off before Jan 1. My address is:
44 Stevens Dr, Holbrook MA 02343
