Let me tell you about my new sweet friend Rebeca and how God brought her into my life.
Today was “spend time with the Lord” day for ministry which was so necessary, peaceful, rejuvenating and perfect. Four of us decided to head to a coffee shop. To some, coffee shops are distracting, to me and I think I can speak for the other girls, we find it peaceful and a space to really connect with Jesus and to focus.
So anyways, since this morning, we planted ourselves in one area for the day. Making it our home. I went for a walk with my teammate Anna and when we got back, this girl (Rebeca) was sitting in a seat in “our area”. It made the area a little more crowded but we made it work.
As I was reading my Bible and journaling, Rebeca asked me if the book I was holding was a Bible. “Es eso una biblia?” –Not sure if she asked me this way but she did ask me in Spanish and I could understand but for the sake of this blog I am using the Google Translate translation.
She told me that it is unusual to see people reading the Bible in public. From there we ended up talking about our faith and what we believe.
I was able to share the Truths about Jesus with her. She said she believes and prays but gets confused with what she should actually believe because of all the differences between denominations within Christianity.
I was able to share how Jesus has truly saved me from who I was before knowing and believing (10 years ago!) and that it’s a continuous journey but an amazing one.
I was able to share how much Jesus loves us and how much he wants us to seek after him and Love him and others.
Rebeca has such a beautiful soul and from that short, sweet conversation, I have gained a new friend.
She is a fashion designer for products made here in the south of Ecuador and is hopefully going to show us her studio before she heads off to Bolivia for the rest of the month.
She wants to stay connected and wanted my contact to be able to contact me for any questions or to talk more about being a Christian. Thank you God for technology for moments like this…to be able to stay connected to Rebeca and share this journey with her and how God is moving within me and all around me as well as keep in touch and support her in any way possible.
Rebeca had to leave but she ended up coming back in to give me a small adorable credit card/ID holder that her company has made. Small acts of kindness go a long way. <3
This day has become even more special to me. God shows up in the big and small moments. Not only was I able to share about Jesus and how he is LOVE in a coffee shop in Ecuador, but talking with Rebeca also brought joy to my life.
I am forever thankful for sweet moments like this!
Thank you for reading my short but sweet story
I just wanted to share my joy with you all and what God is doing, even if it is small, over here in Ecuador.
Love,
Kristen
