Healing. This is something that I have never prayed for before or even been around. The first time healing was mentioned to me (in detail) was at training camp when we had a night where we prayed healing over people at training camp with any pain or headaches and my teammates prayed for my back. I didn’t specifically receive healing in that moment, but many people gave testimonies afterwards about how their pain was gone or headaches disappeared. There is a difference between healing and miracles. God is capable of both, but healing happens overtime and miracles happen immediately. So while everyone was still praying me teammates and I asked someone to talk to us about healing. This was something that was very new to all of us and we had a few questions about it. What if nothing happens right away? What if we are on the field and pray for someone, nothing happens, and they question God’s power and ability to heal? What if they question God in general? We just didn’t know what to expect because we had never prayed for healing.
Now being two months into the Race, we have gotten some experience praying for each other, for people on the streets or people we meet. Recently, we got the opportunity to visit a new town about an hour away called Carhuaz . We headed into the market where we sold books of the Bible and little story books for kids (all in the Quechua language). We got to talk with the people that came up to us and explain why we were wearing the Quechua clothes and what exactly we were selling. After a bit Ade, our ministry host, asked if we could pray for a woman that had pain in her knee, so a few of us prayed for her pain and discomfort to leave and for her to be able to walk without pain. After that a few more people wanted prayer for different things. As soon as we started praying, people were lining up for prayer. One after the other we prayed for healing in knees, legs, backs, heads, shoulders, and more. Many of the people we prayed for immediately felt relief from whatever pain they were having. Miracles right before our eyes. Some didn’t feel relief so we prayed multiple times. The faith that people had just by coming and asking for prayer was so encouraging. We were in the market for 3 hours or so and almost the entire time my team and I were praying healing over people. At first, I was nervous and those initial questions of what if nothing happens were coming to mind, but the Lord told me to trust Him and step out of my comfort zone and just pray! I’m not the one who is healing anyone and my team and I made sure that the people we prayed for knew this. We’re not capable of that, but God is big enough and powerful enough to heal. So I just prayed one after the other, for hours and what an experience it was. I used the little Spanish I know to talk to them, ask what they needed prayer for and then would pray. That morning before heading to the market, my team and I spent the morning fasting, worshiping, and praying for opportunities in the market. I prayed for boldness not just for the entire team, but for myself as well because I knew this was outside my comfort zone. God gave me the boldness to pray for these people and He gave me the words to say.
Thank you to all who have been reading and keeping up with my blogs!
Until all have heard,
